A place to call home – Victoria’s Big Housing Build
Single biggest investment in social housing in Victoria.
It’s the hottest topic of the month in the Community Housing world! The Victorian Government is providing and supporting tens of thousands of Victorians into jobs and giving thousands of Victorians the security and stability of a place, they can call home.
This will be Australia’s biggest ever investment in public, community, and affordable housing. With a historic $5.3 billion budget, the Big Housing Build will:
- construct more than 12,000 new dwellings throughout metro and regional Victoria,
- supporting more than 10,000 new jobs, per year over the next 4 years, and
- boost Victoria’s economic recovery

Hundreds of new jobs will be created for women, Aboriginal Victorians, people with disabilities, social housing tenants and people from diverse backgrounds.
As part of Victoria’s Big Build there will be more homes for Aboriginal people, victim survivors of family violence and people living with mental illness. Nothing is more important than stable housing when there are other aspects at play.
